After more than 45 years in auto repair, Gene Brawn is retiring.
If you’ve visited our San Jose location over the years, there’s a good chance you’ve met Gene. He’s been part of Stress-Free Auto Care since the very beginning—helping open the first shop and watching the company grow into what it is today.
But what mattered most to him wasn’t just the growth.
It was the people.
Built on Trust
When we asked Gene what he was most proud of, his answer was simple:
“The high number of returning long-term clients.”
That kind of loyalty doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from showing up, doing the work the right way, and earning trust over time.
He shared a story that says everything.
One of his longtime customers would walk into the shop, toss his wallet on the counter, and say:
“Take care of me.”
No questions. No hesitation. Just trust.
That’s what Gene built over decades—and it’s something that continues with our team today.
A Simple Philosophy
Gene didn’t overcomplicate things.
Safety comes first. Everything else comes second.
No shortcuts. No pressure. Just making sure every customer could rely on their vehicle and feel confident behind the wheel.
That mindset helped shape the culture in San Jose—from the front counter to the shop floor.
He also pointed to something just as important:
Teamwork.
The collaboration between advisors and technicians. The willingness to step in and help. The shared goal of taking care of every customer the right way.

What’s Next
