Texas Emissions Testing

Emissions testing includes an On-Board Diagnostics-Second Generation (OBDII) test for vehicles made in 1996 or later. This computerized system monitors and tests components related to emissions.

The OBDII test checks:

  • Malfunction indicator (check engine light)

  • Proper operation of the malfunction indicator status and diagnostics trouble codes

  • OBDII readiness monitors

For older vehicles, emissions will be measured directly from the tailpipe at both high and low speeds. If your vehicle fails, Stress-Free Auto Care technicians can identify reasons for the failure and recommend and perform necessary repairs.
